Meet the Artist

A picture of the artist, Pat Thompson.
I (Pat Thompson) am an award-winning Indiana artist specializing in acrylic paintings on canvas. My favorite subjects include buildings, landscapes and still life. A 1998 graduate of North Light Art School I entered my first juried show in 1994, was accepted, and has since won numerous Best of Shows and other awards in many area art shows, including Fort Wayne, Chesterton, Valparaiso, Wabash, Plymouth, Rensselaer and Warsaw, Indiana.

I was invited to show my art on Channel 34, Public TV. My work also represented in the past at Market Street Studio in Nappanee, In., The Art Market at The Museum of Art, South Bend, In., and in the 2520 Gallery, Knox, Indiana.

Recently I was selected to do a painting of the County Courthouse in Rochester by the Fulton county Bar Association. It was then presented to the Indiana Bar Association to be hung in Indianapolis with other county courthouses.

“Excitement flows; the urge and the time to paint merge. Enter my studio, turn on some music or a book on tape, and sit down with this canvas of possibilities in front of me! There are so many steps along the way – selecting a subject that inspires me that particular day and then developing what I want to say in painting it. Whether it’s a commission piece or for my collection, it becomes a process of picturing and planning for the final presentation. From the first brush track, I’m on a journey, sometimes hitting a bump and needing to re-evaluate my direction, other times such amazement over a passage that I know did not come from me alone! When my destination

is reached, I take some time to study and enjoy it even as I begin searching for the next one to do!

Most of my work is done from a series of photographs but never limited by them. It’s simply a place to start and see where creativity and imagination can lead me. My favorite art subjects are buildings, landscapes & still life art, have also done portraits of people and animals. Each new painting is a challenge and a learning experience that I love. ” – Pat
